STAFF COMMUNICATION

We want you to be happy, successful and feel a sense of purpose as a teacher at Mountain Yoga, and are here to support you in any way we can.

You are encouraged to email The Manager with any issues concerning the studio. You may then decide to discuss further by phone, zoom or an in-person meet. Examples of things to discuss with the Manager include the need to change your class schedule, requesting a raise, or concerns about a student or fellow staff member. In certain instances the Director may participate in the conversation.

 Studio Correspondence.
We ask all employees to respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours.

COMMUNICATION WITH STUDENTS

Class announcements
Each week you will have 1-3 studio announcements to make either before or after teaching class. Because this is already a lot for students to absorb, we ask that personal announcements are limited to referring students to your website/social media.

Code of Conduct

As a teacher of Mountain Yoga you represent the studio. In communicating with students while working you are expected to advocate for the studio and contribute to the success of its efforts.

Our community is a friendly bunch, and we encourage you to be warm and personable in class while still maintaining a professional demeanor. While you may be friends with some of your students outside the classroom, in the class you are the teacher and need to behave as such.

We ask that you refrain from “oversharing” with students in class about your personal life and struggles, as you would a friend.

In addition, we ask for all the usual codes of conduct, like dressing appropriately, not using foul or hateful language, making sexual advances toward students, and the usual parameters of professional conduct.

Conflict of Interest.
It is not possible to articulate everything that may constitute a lack of professional conduct, breach of confidentiality or conflict of interest, however examples include:
  • using client contact information or studio resources for personal gain
  • borrowing or soliciting money from students
  • making class announcements about events that are in direct conflict with Mountain Yoga activities
  • soliciting money, volunteer help or other resources for a favorite cause
  • gossiping or sharing confidential information about the studio or fellow staff members.
