EVALUATIONS

"discover what your students appreciate about you,
as well as ways to better support them...
"
We are in frequent contact with our teachers about what's working, what's not and how we can work together to make classes at Mountain Yoga the best possible experience for our students.  In addition, we conduct two formal forms of feedback each year: an annual evaluation with the Studio Manager, and a follow-up Self Assessment mid-year.

Annual Evaluations
In your annual evaluation you and the Studio Manager will discuss four areas of staff performance: classes, administrative duties, professional development and staff participation.   Class performance is by far the most important part of the evaluation process.  Remember, it is not enough to teach a great class, you need to teach classes that inspire students to continue doing yoga — ideally with you!

Class performance is considered in the context of the studio’s overall health. If attendance studio-wide is down but your class continues to thrive — very impressive!  And conversely, if studio attendance is growing and your class is diminishing, that is not a good sign.

The evaluation process includes our Studio Director visiting and reviewing one of your classes and the results of a Student Feedback Survey.  These two aspects of the evaluation process have proven to be very reassuring and constructive.  More often than not teachers receive concrete feedback on what they are doing right, as well as some tips to they may not have thought of.

Self Assessments
Six months following your Teacher Evaluation you will submit a Self-Assessment to track if there has been improvement in key areas noted in your evaluation.  This is also an opportunity for to give studio management feedback on how we are doing at supporting you as an employee.

Onboarding evaluation.
New teachers receive a Student Evaluation following their first month on staff as part of the onboarding process.
