mary armentroutI teach Feldenkrais to uncover the joy of embodiment. Trained as a dancer, and still active as a performer and choreographer, Feldenkrais has been a laboratory for studying the intersection of bodies and movement on many levels. Guiding students to discover their own path towards more aware movement - which can cause a re-centering and grounding, or simply more efficient and sophisticated execution of movements, or bring relief from pain patterns - can be life-altering, and this brings me great delight.

perry chattlerI teach alignment-based, Hatha yoga utilizing modifications to make the practice accessible for people of all abilities. In 2010, I received my 200 hour teacher training certification, and in 2017, I became a certified yoga therapist completing an additional 800 hours of training. I have experience in trauma-informed yoga and in teaching yoga for seniors, for Parkinson’s, for cancer recovery, and for military veterans. Yoga is breath, and a practice of awareness that we can take off the mat and into our daily lives.

harsha jaisinghaniI was introduced to yoga by my dad in my preteens growing up in India, woken up on countless mornings to practice sun salutations (reluctantly!!). Unaware of how this had taken root and unconsciously laid the foundation for what was to become a lifelong passion for yoga. When I moved to the US in the late 90's I was fortunate to meet my teacher, Ann Dyer in San Francisco. I have studied Hatha Yoga under her tutelage for 18+ years and more recently completed the 200 hour teacher training. In addition to teaching at Mountain Yoga I also teach at Nest Yoga and at the Lifelong Medical Center in Oakland. I hope to share my love for yoga and all the ways it has guided me through my life.

jessica samuelsI have been meditating since I was a teenager. My training and interests include Buddhism, Chan (Zen), mindfulness, and a variety of healing meditative practices. I am also a philosophical practitioner, which applies wisdom from various traditions to human questions like finding meaning and facing mortality. As a teacher I seek to cultivate awareness and exploration of what we fundamentally are: beings who have the capacity to be both highly dynamic and deeply still.

cillesa ullmanAs a lifelong athlete, I understand first-hand the value of varied physical movement. My personal yoga practice has proven vital to pursuing more strenuous physical activities without injury, thanks to the inherent yogic benefits of flexibility. Additionally, the mental focus and clarity that Hatha yoga brings has helped me gain a quieter mind and helps me live a healthier way of life. Join me (and sometimes Honey-Bunny) for my “yoga workout”. I’m so excited to share my love of movement and strength building from my new home in France - A Bientôt!

gail wallaceDiving deep into experience is a goal for myself and my students. Yoga offers such a magnificent practice to cultivate that skill. Whether we use the language of "focusing attention,"" listening" or "feeling" it's all about opening the door to the aliveness of each moment.
My training includes philosophy studies, Iyengar training, Shadow yoga and, most recently, Feldenkrais. It all comes together on the mat where I enjoy leading with images and descriptions while we cultivate sensitivity, strength and fluidity. In my classes you'll see moves and metaphors that I hope will evoke both pleasure and insight. email gail |
