READ INTERVIEW  WITH RICHARD ROSEN

Did you know that yoga wasn't always a physical practice?
Spend an illuminating afternoon with yoga teacher/scholar Richard Rosen, author of "Original Yoga," discovering how the physical practice of yoga was born and evolved over millennia into the global yoga you practice today.  Learn what has been lost over time and original teachings still relevant to our lives today.  Experience how deeper understanding can bring greater inspiration, insight and results to your personal practice on the mat.

In one afternoon we will cover 800 years of the dramatic and colorful story or hatha yoga history,  from its inception thru its decline to its resurgence as the global yoga it has become today.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF
2000 YEARS OF TRADITIONAL YOGA

W I T H   R I C H A R D   R O S E N
MAY 22, 2020 | 2-4PM PST VIA ZOOM

What IS Yoga?  In a mere two-hours, scholar-practitioner-teacher Richard Rosen offers a concise and entertaining answer to the question that has been asked for over 2,400 years. The history of yoga is fascinating, full of dramatic twists and turns, complex characters, and  a passionate thread that runs throughout.  Richard tells the story of yoga through the lens of its six major traditional schools, offering fascinating insights and important clarifications along the way:

  • Wisdom (jnana)
  • Devotion (bhakti)
  • Selfless action (karma)
  • Sacred Sound (mantra yoga)
  • Classical Yoga (Patanjali Yoga Sutra)
  • Hatha Yoga (the source of our modern practice)

Enjoy an enlightening afternoon in satsang (good company), and leave with a practical understanding of yoga that will bring depth and meaning to your practice.
