Anja explains why YOU should create your own personalized yoga altar! (click photo)

why make an altar?

A yoga altar is a visual reminder of the devotion and commitment you have for your yoga practice.  It enlivens your practice space.   Moves you when you need inspiration to practice.  Focuses your mind when you are distracted.  And, they are a whole lot of fun to make!

In this afternoon LIVEstream workshop with Anja Borgstrom you will put together your own personalized yoga altar using an accordion-folded base provided to you in advance and personal items of inspiration you have gathered.  On the day of the workshop you will gather together with Anja who will provide an inspired setting and all the  guidance you need for assembling your personal altar. Leave having experienced a relaxing afternoon of art-making with your yoga community and a treasured altar to be displayed in your yoga practice space!

having fun finding inspiration

The process of gathering the materials and creating the altar is a meditative and devotional practice in it’s own right.  Consider the following possible sources of inspiration:

  • photo/ drawing of your teacher
  • photo or drawing of your favorite yoga pose
  • photo or drawing of something from nature
  • a message that has deep meaning for you, a short poem, or aphorism
  • a short yoga chant or symbol for OM
  • a revered spiritual figure like Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Compassion, or the Dalai Lama

what you need to know in advance

Once registered, you can either pick up your altar base from the studio or have it mailed to you.
On the day of the workshop you will need to come prepared
with:

1. Altar panel base provided by Anja.  (Will be mailed or can be picked up at the studio upon registration.)
