Let’s come together to celebrate the turning of the light and the love inherent in all creation at MYoga's annual Love & LIght holiday event. This year's celebration Devi Mathius who will bring us together to sing the sacred chant of St. Hildegard of Bingen, the illuminating visionary, healer, musician, and wise woman of medieval Europe. Hosted by MYoga director Ann Dyer, the evening culminate with special holiday meditation on the love and light that characterizes the holiday season, followed by holiday refreshments and a chance to wish one another "good cheer!"
Hildegard Von Bingen's songs are beautiful, inspiring, and encoded with deep wisdom and insight. Singing them stirs the spirit and sets the body ringing with a resonance that reminds us who we really are. Her music is for everyone to sing. Devi will guide us in experiencing this form of sacred chant the same way Hildegard herself shared it with the people who sang with her, in a gentle, contemplative process of listening and singing “through the ear to the heart.” No musical training or prior experience required.
Devi Mathieu has been singing the music of St. Hildegard of Bingen since 1993, as a concert soloist, as a teacher, and as a seeker of wisdom. Over the years, Devi has come to realize that Hildegard’s mystical teachings come alive when we sing her songs, and that everyone, regardless of their perceived musical ability, can participate.
Devi Mathieu performs medieval, Eastern European and contemporary music in the USA and Europe, and regularly collaborates with her husband, composer, author, and pianist William Allaudin (W.A.) Mathieu. She is also a science writer who enjoys delving into the mysteries of biology, ecology, physics, and cosmology. as well as exploring the common roots from which all spiritual traditions arise.
