LIfting our voices together in song and chant is core to winter holiday traditions around the world. In the upcoming six-week Sound Sadhana session we will gather together weekly in the spirit of the holidays to chant songs of peace and well-being, culminating in a special candlelit holiday procession throughout the streets of Montclair Village the evening of Friday, December 19.

Because money is tight and schedules even tighter between November and January, we are offering a special $60 session rate ($10/class) and a $15 drop-in rate for Sound Sadhana sessions between now and the new year.
No Talk, Pure Chant
What's more, our sessions will begin with a half hour warm-up and continue with a full hour of uninterrupted chanting — no talking. The coming series will be purely experiential, with nary a word explanation — anything that needs to be communicated will be done so through song.

Sadhana means "endeavoring to obtain a particular result," usually spiritual practice. The Sunday Sound Sadhana is a weekly session devoted to the exploration of various yogic practices that harness the power of sound vibration to create experiences of greater peace, joy, and connection.
Ann Dyer has explored yogic sound for over 30 years as a teacher, student and professional vocalist. She is Director of the Vak Choir which premiered at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco fall 2013 and was commissioned by the Asian Art Museum of SF to create a piece to be performed in conjunction with the Smithsonian exhibition "Yoga: the Art of Transformation" this spring. Dyer’s teaching illustrates how the ancient practices of mantra, kirtan, raga and naada yoga can be skillfully used to benefit our contemporary lives. Ann is director of Mountain Yoga. |
