Join Tahir Qawwali, leader of Fanna-Fi-Allah Sufi Qawwali, for an informative and inspirational workshop exploring the practice of Sufi Qawwali singing.
In this rare 3-hour workshop open to beginners and experienced musicians alike, you will learn about raga, the musical mode at the heart of all Indian and Pakistani music, as well as about voice techniques, pure pitch, microtonal ornamentations and expression of sentiment unique to Sufi Qawwali. The workshop will also include the presentation of a short film about Pakistani Qawwali Culture, offering a beautiful & heartfelt glimpse into the unseen sufi musical world of Pakistan with footage shot over the past twelve years in the company of qawwali legends & at the sufi centres of devotion. |

A native of Nova Scotia, Tahir Qawwal has been studying and performing Indian vocal music all over the world for more than 20 years. His deep knowledge and dedication to the Sufi Qawwali path, as well as his incredible vocal ability make him an energetic and engaging teacher and performer. Since 2001 he has been the leader of Fanna-Fi-Allah Sufi Qawwali, the first group of westerners fully embraced in Pakistan and India for its traditional qawwali music. More at www.fanna-fi-allah.com
