intermediate practice:
seated poses
a 6-wk series w/ann dyer, $108
Thursdays 9-10:30am July 9 - August 13
Remember how the jingly tune of the neighborhood ice cream truck used to announce summer? Summer = ice cream in the hearts and minds of many. And, for yogis, the cool, refreshing asana equivalent to ice cream are seated poses. The poses we look forward to getting to after all that other asana we know we need to do. In this six-week Intermediate Series Ann Dyer will teach the fundamentals of performing simple seated asanas while gradually coaxing the class (and its hamstrings!) toward more intermediate versions of seated poses that include arm wraps, lotus legs and balances.
Look forward to developing your ability to perform some classic seated forward bends and twists safely, gradually and with ease. Each week will focus on set of related poses, including:
• Head to Knee Pose (Janu Sirsasana and Pavritta Janu Sirsasana)
• Cowface Pose (Gomukhasana)
• Archer’s Pose (Akarna Dhanurasana)
• Bound Angle Pose (Baddha Konasana)
• Compass Pose (Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana)
• Fire Log Pose (Agni Stambhasana)
• Heron Pose (Krounchasana)
• Lord of Fishes Pose (Matsyendrasana)
• Tortoise Pose (Kurmasana)
• West Side Stretch Pose (Paschimottanasana)
• Half Bound L otus Forwawrd Bend (Ardha Baddha Padma Paschimotanasana)
• and more
Minimum two years asana experience recommended, or permission from the teacher.
