"Good information wrapped in fun energy and wisdom" ~ Y4HA student
Dr. Baxter Bell brings together the best of modern science and traditional yoga to help us age well as we live long in his four brand new Yoga for Healthy Aging workshops. In this exciting new quartet Baxter shares ground-breaking new research on the physical, cognitive, emotional and social contributors to achieving a longer healthspan and yoga practices to help.  Learn how practicing yoga can awaken us to new, bright possibilities for longer, more vital lives.

Presented as part of  We Are The Forest Dwellers:
a Fall Celebration of Life in the Third Season.

Breaking the Aging Code
through Yoga
REGISTER NOW

SAT, SEPT 07 2-4PM
Negative attitudes  about aging are rampant in our culture, and have been found to negatively impact both the length and quality of our lives.  Together we can turn these harmful beliefs around!

In this workshop we will learn how a positive perspective on aging can have multiple health benefits, such as lowering the rates of Alzheimer’s and adding healthy, active years to our lives.

Together we will engage  the power of yoga through poses, breath work and awareness practices to unearth negative attitudes and change them into positive forces for better health.  Let's break the aging code and  live better as we live longer!

Beyond 10K Steps:
Four Key Movement Skills
REGISTER NOW

SUN, OCT 13 1:30-3:30PM
Walking is a great, but 10K steps  may be an overstep.  New findings suggest we may benefit from pulling back on walking and adding other  movement modalities to our days.

In this workshop we will re-evaluate how much to walk and how to walk better. How not all sitting is "the new smoking," and how to sit better.  We will learn about the Active Grandparent Advantage (AGA) and how a regular yoga practice supports its recommendations.

Our session will culminate with  a pleasurable,  well-rounded yoga practice based on "Yoga for Healthy Aging's  4 Movement Skills" designed to support us age well as we live long.

The Crucial Connection
Wellness thru Community
REGISTER NOW

SAT, DEC 07 2-4PM
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murty, MD has declared loneliness a national health crisis. Longevity studies like the Blue Zone point to social interaction as being as critical as diet and exercise.  Buddhist master Thich Naht Hahn says "no sangha, no meditation."

The need for connection is clear, yet often dismissed.
In this workshop we will look at new findings on isolation, how to find a greater sense of community, and the very real health  benefits of connection — such as the release of useful hormones when hugging!

Our workshop will conclude with a  yoga practice that is rooted in community and nourished by human connection for health and happiness.
