SHIFTS, PAYROLL +  PERKS
Being an employee of Mountain Yoga requires three different online softwares programs.
Our Studio Manager will establish an account for you on all three websites. Look for an emails requiring your response and an email from our Studio Manager to set up a training session on how to use these three programs.
  • Mindbody: Our studio software. Records the basis of your pay: how often you teach and when based on your clock in and out times and how many students attended.
  • Gusto: Our payroll company. Look for an email requiring your response. They calculate your paycheck, and deposit it in your account.
  • Bambee: Our HR company.  Look for an emails requiring your response. Ensures you receive the rights and benefits of being an employee in the state of California

Teachers are expected to arrive 15 minutes before their class to welcome students and remain 15 minutes after to answer any questions. (Once everyone leaves you are free to clock out.)  Teachers are paid a base hourly wage plus a per student rate for classes. The same hourly rate is paid for mandatory trainings, meetings and studio events. Pay is based on the teacher clocking in and out using Mindbody. Staff is paid every other Friday via direct deposit (you will be receiving a request from the Studio Manager for your banking information in order set up direct deposit as part of the onboarding process.) Staff perks include:
  • one month of unlimited classes during the teacher’s first month on staff
  • one free class per week thereafter
  • discounted and free workshops. on a case by case basis.

ATTENDANCE, TIME OFF + SUBS
As a Mountain Yoga employee, you are expected to be punctual and consistent in attendance. Being habitually late or regularly missing classes is the single most detrimental behavior to class retention. We ask that absences be carefully considered. Absences of longer than two weeks or excessive absences must be approved by studio management.

Planned Absences
Planned absences must be arranged a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. You are expected to arrange your own subs using the  Mountain Yoga Staff contact list and email the confirmed substitute teacher(s) to the Studio Manager two weeks prior to your first day off.

Absences due to illness or injury.
If you are unable to teach due to illness or injury, please arrange subs for the anticipated duration you are unable to teach, and email the schedule to Studio Manager. If you are too incapacitated to arrange your own sub — or if you teach
the first class of the following day — text or call the The Studio Manager immediately. If you do not receive a reply within one hour, contact the Studio Director. They will take responsibility for finding a sub for your next class and discuss how to address future needs with you. If they are unable to find a sub for your class, your class will be cancelled.

Class Cancellations
Cancellations are avoided at all costs, as they negatively impact the students, the teacher and the studio.

SCHEDULE CHANGES + RESIGNATIONS
New hires are asked to respect the 3 month trial period mutually-agreed upon at hiring.
For long term teachers, two weeks notice is required prior to dropping a class or resigning as an employee. Finding teachers to replace classes is challenging, so we request, if possible, two weeks notice for every class being left. For example, leaving one class = 2 weeks notice; 2 classes = 4 weeks notice, etc. Teachers are requested to share thoughts about possibly leaving their classes with us as early as possible.

A formal letter of resignation must be mailed or emailed to the Studio Manager including 1) date of the last class to be taught, and 2) cause for resignation.  We welcome any constructive feedback you can offer management at that time. Students are dramatically affected by a teacher leaving, so we ask that announcing resignation be discussed first with the Studio Manager to determine the best timing and messaging of the announcement.

HR POLICIES
Please read and sign off on the policies in your HR file located on the Bambee website. These include detailed versions of some of the issues introduced in this orientation package, as well as employment policies required by the State of California.
