STUDIO FAQs
How often should I do yoga?
Twice a week is a good start. but the more the better! Where are you located? We have two beautiful Oakland locations. Monday-Saturdays classes are held at OYS at 4 Yosemite (off PIedmont Avenue.) and Sunday classes are held at Bliss at 4268 Broadway, 2 FL. Wehold classes are online, as well as In Person classes . We also offer occasional Outdoor Classes on the Montclair Garage Roof, as whether permits. What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Sweats, leggings, shorts are all fine. How early should I arrive? Whether in person or online, it is a good idea to get to class 10-15 minutes before class start time. Introduce yourself to the teacher, and let them know what has brought you to yoga. Share any issues that might be helpful for them to know, like if you are recovering from surgery or have an achy lower back. What should I bring? If you're coming in-person, just bring your own mat (mats are also available at the studios, but having your own mat is always a good idea.) For zooming from home, try to have 4 things: a mat, a blanket, a strap and a block. Purchase online, or improvise with things you have at home. What if I have an injury or am just getting over an illness? Do not come to in-person classes if you are recovering from illness or showing any symptoms of a potential illness. When attending class via Zoom, inform your teacher before class of any injury or illness you may be recuperating from. Our teachers will help guide you to keep you safe, offering modifications to accommodate an injury, or suggest alternative restful poses if you have been ill. Feel free to stop practicing and take a break. While our teachers will do everything to support a safe, healing experience, ultimately you are the best judge of whether the practice is helping or harming and must take ultimate responsibility for your own safety and well-being. How do I get to know the Mountain Yoga community better ? 1) Select "yes" to texts and emails in your MindBody registration 2) Sign up for our weekly eNews. 3) follow our Facebook and Instagram pages daily yoga tips and inspiration.
