We love our city and the people in it. We made this little video love letter to Oakland with the help of a few members of our Mountain Yoga family and the music of 70s Oakland musical icon Sly Stone. Sly's words soon became our motto.
We want to take you higher. Feel better. Get stronger. Be happier.
Yoga is ancient, but holds many answers for us today. It brings resilience to bodies stiff from too much sitting. Builds stamina for the perpetually exhausted. Refreshes over-taxed minds and lightens heavy hearts. Yoga re-connects us with ourselves, and with each other. No matter how out of shape, stressed out, old or stiff you may feel, yoga leaves you feeling better. (If you're over fifty, check out our new programming initiative, BOOMING.)
We believe the arts, like yoga, can also take us higher. Our Inspiration Series brings renowned artists, writers, musicians and dancers to the studio to inspire (from the latin word inspirare, "to take in spirit.") We present Weekend Immersions in yogic practices related to the arts, like Sound Yoga and Writing as a Spiritual Practice, and our Inspiration Retreats combine the power of inspiration, art of travel and practice of yoga for life-changing experiences.
"Do you wanna go higher?" Come visit us in the Oakland Hills. We're a stone's throw and world's away from most East Bay neighborhoods, with a refreshing "get away from it all" feeling. Come do some yoga. Love your body. Change your view. Go higher.
