The best trips are transformative, like yoga. Adventures to unfamiliar places and new experiences that leave us different than before we left. Few trips hold as much promise for meaning and transformation as a return to the source of yoga, Mother India. But India can be daunting to navigate, which is why Ann has designed this exceptional Indian sojourn for you, beginning with a cultural tour of North India and culminating with a purifying Yoga & Ayurveda Tour of South India. Come for the entire tour, or join us for one leg!

There is not one India, there are many. In this unique sight and sounds tour we will experience the cultural, spiritual and scenic diversity of North India on a journey that opens our senses — and our hearts — to all North India has to offer. Together we will explore the ancient and contemporary, the grand and the humble. We will travel from the fashionable, cosmopolitan city of New Delhi to India's oldest holy city of Varanasi, behold the iconic Taj Mahal — one of the seven wonders of the world — and venture down the quaint, temple-lined alleys of Vrindavan, the birthplace of Krishna. And everything in between.
We will ride elephants to the majestic Amber Fort of Jaipur and take rickshaws through the medieval labyrinth of Old Delhi, board one of India's famous trains for Agra and cruise the Ganges at sunrise serenaded by classical Indian musicians. We will hear the music of India's many spiritual traditions, including the sublime bhajans (hymns) of Sikh temples, devotional Sufi qaawali music in mosques, orthodox Vedic chant in the spectacular evening artis and the stunning silence of Sarnath, the site where the Buddha found enlightenment.
We will breathe in cardamom and rose of India's oldest spice shop, and the aroma of incense in Hindu temples. We will share a cup tea from the corner chaiwallah and indulge in a lavish, multi-course meal in a Mughal palace. We will hunt down treasures by traditional craftspersons in centuries-old bazaars and delight in innovations of India's most cutting-edge designers found in modern boutiques. We will meet the people of India, and make new friends. We will do yoga with Ann to keep us grounded and open for the yoga of travel. And like all good yoga, we will come home, well ... transformed.

The experience of South India is lush, langourous and deeply rooted in nature and healing. This deeply restoring Yoga & Ayurvedic Tour of South India takes place in the beautiful state of Kerala, the birthplace of ayurveda, India's science of wellness, and described as "one of the ten paradises of the world,” by National Geographic.
Together we will explore the multi-faceted beauty of Kerala, from the oasis of its internationally-renowned beaches to the sanctuary of its ayurvedic spas. We will venture into nature preserves brimming with wildlife and cruise bucolic backwaters teeming with rural life. We will tour ancient coastal towns boasting magnificent temples, heritage palaces and historic landmarks and take solitary strolls through palmed-lined jungle paths. We will enjoy evenings together dining on the renowned cuisine of Kerala and be wowed by masterful performances of the distinctive music and dance of South India.
Our journey begins in the historic Arabian Sea port of Kochin, an international trade hub and spice center since the Portuguese arrived in 1500. We will wander thru the quaint winding lanes of town's old Jewish district, exploring its centuries old spice markets and antique emporiums, and 16th century synagogue.
Next day we will board a traditional Kerala houseboat for an leisurely overnight cruise through Kerala's peaceful backwaters, then venture further south to one of Kerala's most highly-rated ayurvedic spas for three days devoted to restoration and daily ayurvedic treatments. We continue south to Kovalam where the gorgeous Taj Kovalam Retreat will serve as our base for daily yoga, sunning by the sea and a daytime excursion to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the continent where we will see its many historic and religious sites.
Our trip comes to a festive conclusion on the weekend of Shivaratri, the day India recognizes Shiva, the Original Yogi and divine embodiment of transformation.
